Happy New Year

Hi everyone,
we have had some really cold days, nearly -30 degrees C. Now it is a bit better and you can even be outdoors. We have also got snow now, so the children are very happy. Now they can do all the things they have longed for during the dark and wet autumn.

Marianne took a much better photo of the three suns, so I send it as a new years greeting.

Happy New Year to All

Hope all your dreams come true in 2010...

The Experiment

On the day of the solstice it was raining heavily so we did not have the chance to see the sun..the next day was rainy as well..On 24th December, at noon we had sun for a few hours and we were able to measure the shadow..It was 2,14 metres long. But we couldn't take any photos. As we were not expecting to see the sun, we did not have the camera with us.
The weather here is really strange these days..Yesterday it was about 20°C but tonight it was 1°C.
We could not see the first snow of this winter here yet..

Result of experiment

We had problems measuring the day of the solstice. No sun, but luckily we started early, so we had a little sun on the 17th. The result is from that date. Impressive 18,40 metres!
We started at school, but there were lots of trees shadowing the sun. We had to go down to the lake, Tåsjön. There we saw a rather interesting weather fenomenon, three suns!

EXPERIMENT - Result

We were lucky 21st December was a beautiful sunny day.
Our shadow was 3 metres long.

That is Lucia and her followers, dressed in white with candles. We had our in church where we sang songs and every child was dressed up. Even the smallest children participated
